Origami Instructions How to Make a Paper Boat
So, you ever wanted to make a paper boat to play with your rubber ducky when you're in the bathtub I'm going to show you how. My name is Robert Segundo. We're going to make a paper boat today. Now, whenever one of the simplest things to do if you're really actually going to stick this in water would be to take Crayons and color both sides. Crayons has got wax in them and it will keep the boat from actually getting wet and falling apart. The wax will keep it afloat as well. So, what we're going to do is we're going to take a.
Square piece of paper and we're going to fold it in half like so there we go. Let's fold it into another half like so. This is more of a diagonal fold than a half fold. There we go. Now, we're going to open this up and we're going to take our points and fold it in on all four corners there we go. Same thing here, all four corners. There we go. Same thing here, all four corners. Now, we've made a smaller square. What we're going to do is we're going to open these points up and we're going to fold these in half like.
So. Then fold it back into place. So, let's do this quick because I've got a popsicle and my popsicle is melting. So, here we go. There we go now what we're going to do is we're going to take and fold our boat in half like so. Then what we're going to do is take these corners and fold them down in half again like so. Then we're going to take these corners here and fold them along that crease there, down, same thing on the other side, down like.
So. Now, we're going to take this and we're going to fold it into thirds. Once like that, my papers kind of thick so this is going to take a little bit of force and once again like that. Now, we're going to get in here and we're going to press on this. Same thing over here, into thirds like so. Let's press on this real good. I shouldn't have used such thick paper. Now, what we're going to to do is we're going to pick it up from the underside,.
We're going to open it up and press down on the center like so. What this is going to do is this is going create our boat like so. Then you can kind of work the corners here and bring it up into a nice canoe shape. If you've colored it correctly and all over with your Crayon this will float. There you go. There you go, you can work your sides up a little bit more to get that classic canoe shape, but basically that's it. There's your boat. Have fun sailing.
Why Do Ships Float
Hey guys! Hey there, Squid! How's it going TGS Mmmph. I'm kinda cranky right now. Jessi Oh no. No one wants that. What's bothering you TGS Cruise ships. Jessi Cruise ships TGS Yeah, cruise ships. You know, those giant boats that you people sail around in. There's been one floating above me all day, and I can't get any sleep! I mean, it's huge! And noisy! It's like a floating city! So, instead of sleeping, I've just been bobbing awake, staring at it, and wondering. How does a giant ship like that float on the water.
I mean, heavy things sink in water, right Like when someone up there tosses a rock into the ocean which happens, you know it sinks. So why does that heavy ship get to float Jessi The reason a big, heavy ship like that can float has to do with its shape. Whether an object sinks or floats to begin with has a lot to do with something called displacement. Displacement is when an object displaces, or pushes aside, water. So, like, when you drop an ice cube into an alreadyfull glass of water, some water spills out.
TGS That's displacement Jessi That's right the amount of water that spills out is actually equal to the amount of space the ice cube takes up! Or think about when you take a bath. TGS Hold up. Wait. What's a bath Jessi Well, up here, we like to clean ourselves up by soaking in a tub full of nice warm, soapy water. TGS That sounds gross! Do that mean that humans just walk around all day getting dirty If you spent all of your time in the water like me, you'd never get dirty in the first.
Place. Jessi Well, not everyone's the same, right I know some of the people watching here know what a bath is. TGS Mmmrph, okay. Jessi So, say you fill the bathtub up all the way to the top. And then you climb in. Now there's water on the floor. Lots of water. The amount of water equal to the amount of space that you took up! Now, one of the secrets to an object being able to float, is that it has to displace enough water so that the water it pushes aside weighs as much as it does.
Alright, so, say you're in the tub and you want to do an experiment. You can bring in a small bowl, and some rocks from your rock collection. If you put the bowl in the water, it'll float. Because the bottom of the bowl is displacing some water. And the amount of water that it's pushing aside weighs the same as the bowl. Now, drop a little rock in there. Add another, and another. The bowl is getting heavier, so it's sinking a little bit each time. But even though the bowl is heavier, it's also displacing more water so the amount.
Of water that it's pushing aside still weighs the same as the bowl. TGS So what does that mean for the cruise ship Why doesn't it sink Jessi Well, ships are designed to displace as much water as possible. They're realllly wide, and their bottoms tend stretch down really far, so they push aside a lot of water. Plus, a ship has lots of empty space inside it a lot of it is hollow which helps to keep it light, compared to the huge amount of water that it's displacing.
The Best Mini Pontoon Boat for Fishing
Hello, I'm Brad Metzler with Pond King incorporated and I'd like to introduce you to the newest addition to our line of pontoon boats the Pond King Rebel. We manufacture seven different models from six to sixteen foot and this is our oneman fishing pontoon. I'd like to show you some of it's very unique features. Building a stable small pontoon boat that would fit back the truck was definitely a challenge. Our solution was designing a narrow frame that would expand once it was unloaded. The Rebel is only fortyeight inches wide in transport and expands to over sixty eight.
Inches. It's constructed completely from aluminum which makes it lightweight and rust free. The entire pontoon boat only weighs one hundred seventy five pounds so it's easy to move around with the attached wheels. Once you're near the water, pull the pins and use the handles to slide out the pontoons. The pullout trays give you plenty of room for all your gear and the deck is coated with a spray on bedliner to give you sure footing in any condition. Replace the pins and you're ready to load your battery.
And mount the trolling motor to the bracket. The pontoon boat includes a plug wired to the battery box. In addition to tan, the Rebel is also available in blue powder coating. The Rebel is so easy to launch you'll be able to access even the most secluded ponds and lake areas. With a simple boat that is always ready to go you'll be getting out on the water more often. Some of the best fishing is usually that quick trip out to a local private lake. You won't be sacrificing comfort in this boat like most small rigs.
It maneuvers easily and with its great stability you'll enjoy being able to sit or stand while fishing. I hope you've enjoyed learning about our Pond King Rebel and if you like the style of the pontoon boat but you'd like a little more room for a second person we offer the Pond King Rebel XL that has an eightfoot deck with tenfoot pontoons and weighs only two hundred fifty pounds. It comes standard with the below deck battery storage and a trolling motor mount. With its six hundred fifty pound capacity it makes it great two man fishing rig.
The Coolest Things Sound Waves Do
Sound is a wave that we perceive with our ears. It makes our favorite music, and it keeps us out of danger, but it's so much more than that! Hey everybody! Thanks for checking out Dnews today. I'm Trace. Now listen up! Sound is extremely powerful. It's made of invisible waves of energy passing through substances ground, water, air particle to particle. The human ear can perceive these waves as long as their frequencies are between 20Hz and 20,000Hz. Anything above or below that, we can't hear but they're.
Still there because these waves contains energy. And with enough ding, you can make these waves do some incredible things. Outside of medical technology, like ultrasound, one of the most commonly known ways to make sound do something is by breaking a glass. This works only when the sound wave is at the exact same frequency as the object you're shooting at. If you gently flick a wine glass with your fingernail, you will hear its frequency. Match that tone and turn the volume up! Way way up! To like a eleven! And that glass will probably break.
Also within the range of hearing is sound levitation. This is way cooler than breaking stuff if you ask me. Sound levitation has been around for years, but until recently, we couldn't do much with the stuff once it was levitated. It just hung there in the air. Thanks to advances at a Swiss University called ETH Zurich, we can not only levitate stuff, but we can move it around, adjusting floating fluids. This works by using the energy in the sound waves. In this apparatus, the energy waves reflect back and forth so quickly,.
They form what's called a standing wave or a specific point where the energy from the sound can hold an object in midair. Think it like these silly executive desk toys. The ball in the middle, that's the standing wave. The thing that they just figured out is how to move the stuff once it's levitated. Now they can use this system to manipulate liquids combining and separating them, all without touching them with human hands, which is immediately applicable to drug manufacturers. That's kinda cool. These energy waves can do a lot of other stuff too.
The LRAD, or longrange acoustical devices, is a weapon that shoots sound. It's like a sonic death ray, but without the death part. It can produce so much sound that you feel physical pain. Like 160 decibels. That's loud. Think NASA rocket launch. But it won't kill you. It just really hurts. Like a sonic hurt ray. If you combine some those technologies, sound can produce really strange effects. In the 1950s, NASA the US Navy built a device the produces ultra low frequencies or ultrasonic sound. If you pointed it at a person and set it to 19Hz, people would have.
Vision problems and get spots and stuff because 19Hz is the resonant frequency of the human eyeball. Kinda like that wine glass example we talked about. If you turn the volume up, people actually would have trouble breathing because the low frequencies were impacting the lungs like energy waves. And if you shot through the ground, your skeleton would vibrate causing nausea and joint pain. So which of these sound inventions is your favorite The levitating ones for drug manufacturing, ultrasound or maybe one of the ones that are used for EVIL.
